You can now recharge your phones in the microwave if you have iOS8! My local radio station did a PSA to let all their listeners know this was a hoax. HOLY CRAP IF YOU NEED TO BE TOLD NOT TO DO THAT... you might need to be put on disability. Because you're clearly mentally disabled.

hence why I don't ride hype trains.

I want to know how many people have fallen for this.

Lol, my Android has had this feature for years!

At least a few. I've seen the microwaved remains of a couple new iPhones.

what train do you ride?

Speaking of dumb hoaxes... There was a rumor going around my little sister's high school that if you rubbed ChapStick all over your scantron sheet, you'd get all the right answers!
Someone had to find out the hard way that all it gets you is a really disappointed AP US History teacher.

I ride the underdog train. Not much bullshit claims associated with them.

that sounds very metaphysically exhausting
![]() 09/23/2014 at 13:58 |

well, why are you listening to a radio station like that?
![]() 09/23/2014 at 13:59 |

Unbelievable that people would believe this.

Reminds me of the time 4chan convinced someone to microwave a live grenade.

As if it wasn't obvious enough that it takes longer to charge at a higher power? WTF is that shit...
But to the creator of this, true man of genius. Crack a cold one on me.

AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHA
That's really funny actually. That made me laugh way harder than it should have.

BRB getting my phone out of the microwave...

WARNING: The following single sentence paragraph is 80% likely to give you chronic depression. Read at your own risk.
...
There are millions of people who have 1) enough financial security to afford a $750 phone 2) enough stupidity to try microwaving it 3) no desire to use the myriad of other internet connected devices to research what happens when similar devices are microwaved, even for entertainment.

I heard the iPhone is the underdog these days. At least that's what all my android friends tell me.

oh my. Please share. What were the results of said endevor? What did the person expect would happen when the grenade was microwaved?

There are millions of people whose parents have 1) enough financial security to afford a $750 phone
FTFY ;)

at least IMO, majority of apple's purchases come from hype on launch day, that they'll willing buy a $650 phone for their kids to play on. It's like an annual game franchise, while it's okay in itself, it keeps releasing almost the same thing every year, with the promise of outdoing themselves each year, without really coming with a new idea.

It makes me wonder why my parents aren't in that demographic....

Microwaves to charge your phone? How dumb can people be?
But all this hate on apple products? Probably coming from jealous Android users. There are so many great apps available! I use these two every day!

I agree. I have no problem updating phones every 2 years or so, and choosing something on the higher end for $199 when I do, but to stand in line on launch day to get the latest doodad is a thought I can't stand. Plus, the old phones are the ones to keep around in case somebody drops their $649 phone in the toilet, and let the kids play on in the meantime.

Can I haz iPhone 6 Plus?
![]() 09/24/2014 at 00:38 |

Nah, it'll bend if you leave it in your pocket too long. ;)
![]() 09/24/2014 at 00:39 |

I saw that today. But I think I'll be OK. I'll get a stiff case and never put it in my front pocket (that would be uncomfortable anyways)
![]() 09/24/2014 at 00:48 |

Put it in a safe.

LOL. How about a new case that is as strong as a safe.
